# Why we do not have a free plan

A diary entry answering a question that came back this week. A free plan does not fit the Oasys model, not because we want to charge a lot, but because supporting a real operation is expensive for whoever offers it.

## The question came back

The question came back this week, so it is worth writing down. A free plan does not fit our model. Not because we want to charge a lot. Because supporting a real operation costs a lot for the side that offers it.

## What we are trying to avoid

A house shut on a Friday because the system froze is our nightmare. To avoid it, we keep someone on call until midnight, every day.

A free plan would mean email support within 48 hours. And that breaks the customer's operation.

## How we charge instead

We charge by the month, with no lock-in and no penalty. Anyone who does not want to stay leaves the same day.

## About this entry

The Diary is where the Oasys team writes down how the product is being built, in the open. Notes from the people doing the building: what went in, what came out, what we learned. It is updated when there is something to say, not on a fixed calendar.

This entry is dated 25 March 2026, runs about two minutes, and was written by the Oasys team. The plans page carries what each plan includes.
