## Where the quarter ended

We closed the quarter with 47 houses running Oasys in Sao Paulo. Three lessons changed the direction of what we are building.

## One. The bakery runs four shifts

A bakery operates in four shifts, not one. A system designed for a restaurant breaks at the display counter.

## Two. The bar wi-fi goes down

The bar wi-fi goes down. Always. Anything that depends on the network has to work offline, or it does not work.

## Three. Waiters do not read manuals

A waiter does not read the manual. The interface has to be obvious within fifteen seconds. Otherwise he goes back to the paper pad.

## About this entry

The Diary is where the Oasys team writes down how the product is being built, in the open. Notes from the people doing the building: what went in, what came out, what we learned. It is updated when there is something to say, not on a fixed calendar.

This entry is dated 1 April 2026, runs about two minutes, and was written by the Oasys team.
